Reading comprehension text with present continuous

 Read the text and answer the questions:

I´m sitting on the beach, eating an icecream, Alice and
Paul are swimming in the sea and Tom is in the park.
He´s playing with a friend. Peter is listening to the radio
and reading.
We´re having a fantastic holiday. Abercwm is a little
fishing village in north Wales with a park, a castle,some
Roman remains and some lovely gardens, and theres a little
fishing port with a lighthouse. Everybody here is really
friendly. I think we´re lucky. This is our second holiday
this year and we´re doing just what we want to do:sleeping
eating and playing games. The food is lovely too.

the 8:05 bus and gets to work at 8:30. He has lunch from 1:00 till
2:00 and leaves work at 6:00 in the evening. When he gets home,he
reads the newspaper. Then he has dinner at 7:15. After dinner he takes
his dog for a walk. He always goes to bed at 10:30 exactly!

Los verbos subrayados están en presente, los vamos a cambiar a pasado
para contar lo que hizo Mr Smith ayer. Comenzamos así:
Yesterday Mr. Smith got up at 6:45 and had a shower.

Look at this dialogue: Simple Past and question words.

Paul: What did you do yesterday? (¿Que hiciste ayer?)
Alice: I went to the cinema.
     P: What film did you see?
     A: I saw The king´s speech.
     P: Did you like it?
     A: Yes, I did. It was a very good film.
     P: What time did the film start?
     A: It started at 8:00 pm.And what did you do?
     P: Oh, I stayed at home.

Notice:

   Cuando hacemos la pregunta usamos did como
   verbo auxiliar y el verbo principal de la oración
   queda en infinitivo. En la respuesta desaparece
   el did y el verbo principal queda en pasado.
   No olvides consultar la lista de verbos irregulares
   hasta que puedas recordarlos. En las listas de
   verbos irregulares es la segunda columna.

Para formar el negativo:

Usamos didn´t y el verbo principal de la oración queda en infinitivo.
ex: She didn´t go to the supermarket this morning.
     Did he wash his car? No,he didn´t.

Past Simple: Interrogative

 Past Simple: Interrogative 

Para formar el interrogativo usaremos el auxiliar did y el verbo principal de la oración queda en infinitivo.
ex: Did you go to the cinema yesterday? (¿Fuiste al cine ayer?)
     Yes,I did./No,I didn´t.
     What did you cook? (¿Que cocinaste?) I cooked spaghetti.
En la respuesta  (que no es Yes o No) desaparece did y el verbo vuelve a pasado.

Como se forma el Past Simple:

Además del verbo To be que ya vimos, los demás verbos se dividen en verbos regulares e irregulares
Los verbos regulares agregan ed al verbo base
ex: play (jugar)= played
     cook(cocinar)=cooked
     work(trabajar)=worked
Los verbos irregulares no siguen esta regla y deberemos consultar la lista de verbos irregulares
ex: go (ir)=went
     have(tener)=had
     sleep(dormir)=slept
